Vital funds raised for Royal Flying Doctor Service29-May-2015 THE Birdsville Race Club today officially presented its long standing charity partner, the Royal Flying Doctor Service, with $41,482 raised during the 2014 edition of the iconic Birdsville Races.
This sizeable amount was raised by one of Australia’s most remote communities during the Birdsville Cup weekend last September through activities such as auction of a race name, gate takings, a RFDS Cocktail Party, RFDS Fun Run and water and merchandise sales across the two days of racing.
CEO of the RFDS(Queensland Section), Nino Di Marco, was on hand in Birdsville today to accept the cheque from Birdsville Race Club President Mr David Brook (OAM). Nino was in Birdsville as part of the RFDS clinic visits that are critical to the health and welfare of residents of regional Australia.
“We are very proud to support the Royal Flying Doctor Service as it is so vitally important to the wellbeing of people that live in remote communities like ours,” said BRC Vice President Gary Brook. “The money raised in 2014 far exceeded the target that we set and this year we hope to increase that even further in 2015.”
The 2015 Birdsville Races will be held on Friday September 4 and Saturday September 5.
