The Long Walk Home15-Jul-2012
On Monday 9th July 2012, Birdsville Race Club Treasurer Jenna Brook strolled into the Birdsville Hotel completing an epic 435km walk across the Simpson Desert.
Jenna commenced the 14 day journey at Dalhousie Springs and walked between 25 and 36km per day to raise awareness and funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. She crossed over 1000 sand dunes and had to endure being chased by camels and even stalked by a pack of dingoes. Despite the challenges Jenna says the journey was worth it as the RFDS provides a lifeline in places like Birdsville.
The journey captured the interests of a range of media and some of their stories can be seen below:
Jenna has supassed her initial target of $20,000 and has now raised over $30,000 to help keep the RFDS in the air. Its not to late to add to that tall though and if you would like to support Jenna and the RFDS you can do so via the DONATE NOW link on her website www.thelongwalkhome.com.au.
